These people are really down on Rottweilers and want to devote an entire section on their site to helping people get BSL passed in their areas. Not a good site for us or our dogs.

HOLY CRAP! I want to say that I can't believe that this stuff is out there ... but it doesn't surprise me.

I know that I live in an area where there is NO leash law. A quick story about what happened to me a few weeks ago ... I was taking Future for a run ... up the street around the block and back. We were at the top of my street (THE SAME STREET MY KIDS PLAY ON) and we were attacked by an American Bull dog mix. This dog had NO collar on and was apparently running the streets free. He was HUGE ... way over 120 pounds and all muscle. I managed to stand up tall and I starting hitting him with the leash. Future also bullied up and the two of us ran him off. (Guess he wasn't expecting us to fight back.) We called our "Animal Control" ... really the local sheriff. He came out and told us that unless the dog is currently acting vicious, as in biting, there was nothing that he could do. He then placed his hand on his gun and looked us straight in the eye and told us "that we were legally allowed to protect ourselves and our family". Obviously we understood that we could take the law into our own hands and shoot the dog.

We didn't shoot the dog and we haven't seen him since ... we guess either he moved on to another part of town or someone did just what the officer told us to do ... take it into their own hands.

But HOW SCARY! That dog could have easily done harm to my two small children that love to play outside. I am completely AGAINST the idea that our breed is destructive and dangerous ... BUT ... I think that there need to be rules in place to ensure that the "bully breeds" be handled only by those that can handle them. It's not fair to me and my rottweilers that an irresponsible neighbor is letting their 120+ American Bull dog run free and create that much havic!

What a soap box huh .... because of all the issues that we are having in our small community ( Our neighbors HATE us) ... we are thinking of relocating sometime next year. What a fuss.....

Thanks for sharing though ... we need to know that this kind of stuff is out there!
