2010 NIRK Midwest Sieger Show & 2010 NIRK Illinois State Championship

I get the Seiger show part, but what is the IL State Championship? Is this just dogs from Illinois?

The Illinois State Championship is open to all dogs. It is just being held in the state of Illinois so it is the title of the show.

From what I've heard, this is going to be a super cool weekend! If you live anywhere near the midwest, you should definitely plan to attend. NIRK has really put a lot of time and effort in bring these Sieger Shows to the great state of Illinois. :-)

I didn't look at the premium yet but I have a question. Is this show going to be indoors or outdoors ? It could be 90 to 100 degrees at that time of year in Illinois. I see judges and owners get nervous when it is 80 degrees. I'm thinking of maybe trying to make the trip but was curious about the hot summer weather.

Hey Andy!

I'm glad you asked. Here is the monthly average for June:
Jun High: 77°F Low: 55°F Mean: 66°F Avg Precip. 3.62 in. Record High: 101°F (1988) Record Low: 34°F (1992)

So hopefully we don't break any records set in the 1980's! I have a lot of family that lives there and they say the weather should be somewhere in the 70's. They said they had kind of a late, long running Winter (and wet) so they assured me June was a decent time to have a nice show.

We are providing extra canopies if anyone needs them for shade, and as is customary at our shows we have complimentary bottled water for the dogs. The show will be outdoors but there is a large warehouse that is always nice and cool if anyone would like to sit in there with their dogs. It is right next to the ring. The site also has a large pond suitable for swimming. We will have cold beer available also free of charge...not for the dogs obviously...and now that I think of it maybe I should put some water-wings out by the pond for anyone thinking they are Michael Phelps after the free beer thing.

Congrats on your new boy by the way and I hope XL and the rest of the gang are doing great! I hope you can make it to the show. Let me know if you need help with anything.

Thanks Lisa. I was just thinking out loud. Here in NY the weather is strange like that. We " could have " a 90 or 100 degree day in June but it will most likely be in the 80s. Back in early April we had a 93 degree day which is about 25 above average and then it went away

back to reality ... 60s :lol:

I'll mapquest it and see how far away and then see what is going on as far as work. Thanks for the reply !

whats the best airport to fly into? Milwaukee, O'hare, or Mid?

I like Milwaukee best because there isn't any traffic and the airport didn't seem as busy. Plus you have to switch freeways a couple of times when you are going to/from ORD or MDW...with MKE you just hop on the freeway and it takes you right to the Gurnee area. One of the host hotels near or in Gurnee...I'd have to look at the premium now I can't remember...allows dogs in the room for free. Plus there's a bunch of restaurants, a water park, and Great America all in that area.

And YES you heard right...free beer!!

Free beer, free coffee and donuts in the morning, free bottled water for the dogs, free potluck dinner, free fireworks show...

Cannonball contest in the pond? But seriously folks, this is sounding like one helluva fun dog show event. I'm hearing a lot of really good stuff about this one. Sounds like Lisa and her gang are pulling out all the stops to make sure everybody has a great time. Free fireworks show...free potluck judges dinner...free bottled water for all dogs...free coffee and donut breakfasts...free beer... Two very knowledgable judges and TWO shows over the weekend...Sounds like a GREAT way to spend the weekend.

Is anyone going to this show that can help me run? Im not sure if my knee will be durable enough at show time to handle running a lot....If someone is, let me know before the show because you will have to get to know bhaji first cause he's not quick to make friends....he wont run for a stranger..

Larry, are you in Texas still? I was looking at flights out of Dallas a few days ago on bing.com and they were dirt cheap...less than $300 round trip into MKE.

Tommy well said! A very good job indeed for the show & was well worth the drive. If another show is offered I definitely recommend to enter & attend to support our wonderful breed. Loved having two different judges which really helped me get some extra ring time with my young girl an opportunity that I am glad I was able to enjoy. Some very good dogs, great people, and very nice location made it a super weekend.

Honestly it was one of the best shows i've been too....i think the two judge thing was awesome!! I liked everyones attitude, no politics, nobody was bitching, nobody was complaining, weather was nice (i live in GA, so it was like fall for me) the hotel was only 20 minutes in traffic from O'Hare, the show site was only 10 min from the hotel, the hotel was surrounded by plenty of places to eat and right next to six flags and a water park. The shade at the site was perfect as the dogs whom were waiting for critiques in the ring were in shade in the ring, the pond was fun for dogs, the hospitality was southern, and if they had a show next weekend...id make the trip....i flew so my little 2 hr flight time was nothing to the people that drove 15-25 hrs like tommy hudson from NC and a guy (name slips my mind) from texas!! People were worried about the heat....but it wasnt bad at all!! show was done by the hot part of the day and the clouds on Sunday served for a wonderful atmosphere!!

Kudos NIRK!!! Thank you Lisa personally since i know you put in the most work......

Just a side note: came home with both critiques.....

Lisa was awesome. We had to get onto the road about 2:30 and when I asked if she minded mailing it since the judge still had classes, she found my critique and in between a class got the sig for me which was very cool. A big thank you for just one of the many things they did to help anyone that was in need or inquired about something!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the show. I know it was quite a drive for a few! That's right, not all of us flew in first class (Tommy!). Congrats to everyone on their wins, including Steve Rogers and his male Achilles (Sieger both days) and Tommy Stark's Bhaji (Youth Sieger both days). I want to thank Ron Angst also for doing helper work too! Many of my family members that were there had stereotypes against Rottweilers prior to the show and were so surprised to see how well behaved the dogs were and how friendly the people were. thanks Kevin and Lisa and thanks to everyone else who called and e-mailed.
Achilles has had a great start to this year in 4 shows he's V1 and SELECT MALE in PA
V2 in CT. and V1 and Sieger sat and V1 and Sieger on sun. in Ill.
also his son Falco was best puppy on sat.
Falco has been VP1 out of the 4-6 class twice(once in Pa. and once in CT.) VP1 and best puppy out of the 6-9 on Sat and then on Sun VP2
I also wanted to say the club put on an excellent show!!
I noticed everyone thanked Lisa and I certainly do as well but Jason did a lot of work as well so lets not forget him. thank-you Jason
Lisa again thank-you, you guys did a wonderfull job with the show, and Lisa your family is AWESOME they were all so nice and hospitable. You should be proud to be from that pedigree!! lol
also congrats to Tommy (and Brenda) with his young boy.
