Thank you all for your kind words. My house feels so empty today.

She had a good morning yesterday, but was suddenly crashing last night. It was a very quick cascade of events. I had noticed the last couple of days she was drinking less water and breathing faster and panting a lot more.

She was in the living room with my husband while I got some things done and ran some errands. When I made the dog dinner, she did not get up. Then she refused to eat, which she has never ever done, this is a food hound. When I looked in her eyes and looked at her, I told my husband to get ready, that it was time to load her up and go RIGHT NOW. She could not get up at all, we had to carry her to the van. By the time we got to the ER vet she was in respiratory distress. A tranquilizing injection relieved a lot of her anxiety and panting, and when it was time for the euth she left very very quietly. Not, however, before informing the vet tech who came to the back of the van that THIS VAN IS STILL MINE, with a big WOOF. The last thing she heard was me praising her for being the best dog in the world as my tears wet the fur on her head.

I will miss her so much, she was a real true character of a dog.

Rebecca...I am *so* deeply sorry to hear of Fenja's passing. I *feel* your pain and my heart is just absolutely breaking for you during this difficult time. I know that in time you'll be able to smile with fond memories of the wonderful times you shared with her.

Godspeed dear Fenja...I know you had a friend waiting to greet you at the other side.
